Cosplay: The REAL Dark Side

Cosplay Noticecosplay psaTo all video game, movie, and comic book nerds alike: I beseech you for your attention.  I want to talk to you a little bit about Cosplay.  We all know what it is.  It’s so much fun.  It’s great.  It’s an excuse to go out in public with our homemade costumes (on days and nights other than Halloween) and embrace our nerdum.  Granted some of us don’t even need the excuse of Halloween or even conventions to dress in Cosplay, to which I bow to your bravery, dedication, and passion to an ideal or worst case scenario, a fictional character that inspires you in some way.  We even use Cosplay to introduce our kids to the interests that his/her mommy and daddy have.

Despite all the wonder and epic brilliance Cosplay is as an expression of our imagination and love for characters that we grew up with, but there is a dark side to it.  No pun intended. (more…)

Marvel: Avengers Alliance

Marvel: Avengers AllianceAs if I or anyone else for that matter needed a reason to stay on Facebook longer than however long it takes to like some photos and update your status.  Marvel: Avengers Alliance is a Facebook exclusive that revolves around the Marvel universe.  This is the very first game on Facebook I’ve ever played and I sometimes find myself playing it instead of my 360 when I’m at home.  It’s a turn-based RPG that has remnants of Final Fantasy and any other masterfully designed and multi-layered turn-based RPG.  The first thing you do is create your character which works just like any other adventure game these days.  You decide your character’s sex, have a handful of face templates to chose from, and a skin tone.  Next thing to do is (more…)

MY (and I can’t stress that enough) My Top 10 Video Games of All Time

I just asked my friends a question on my Facebook page: for them to give me their top 10 video games of all time.  To any gamer, this is a nearly impossible task to do without endless debate and internal struggle.  Most of us would demand that we break it down by franchise, gaming system, genre, main character, even series.   Nevertheless, I asked them because I was just asked the very same question as part of a job application.  At first my friends simply responded by mentioning one game or one series (Mega Man, Final Fantasy, etc.) but none were able to give me a top 10 list of their own.  So I shared with them my top 10 list and the responses were (more…)
