Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Suddenly Dies at 55

Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata passed away this evening at the age of 55. Initial reports say that his cause of death was a “bile duct growth.” I don’t even know what that means.

Nintendo as a company and a brand has been synonymous with gamers around the world as what started it all. Companies like Microsoft, Sega, and Sony are thankful to him and the influence he helped create for the Nintendo name. Iwata was respected and adored by developers and gamers alike. This sudden and tragic news will undoubtedly have a hugely negative downfall on the brand from a business standpoint. Obviously I’m not suggesting Nintendo will go bankrupt, but changes are coming.

Does this mean that the theme park deals are now delayed? Will there be a Nintendo-endorsed Super Mario Bros. movie remake? Most importantly, a new president must step forward. Who will that controller be passed to?
